Bristol 2014 meeting

The 2014 IGSBB will be held 8–9 September at the Bristol Glaciology Centre, University of Bristol.

Abstract submission is now closed.

The UK Antarctic Research Symposium will follow immediately afterwards on 11–12 September.

Registration for the two meetings is now closed.

Participants are responsible for making their own accommodation arrangements.

Photo competition

We are holding a polar photo competition! It will be judged by children (aged up to 10) from Hareclive Academy, who have an arts studio run by children called Room 13.

1st Prize:

Framed print of your photo (up to A1)
DVD: “Encounters at the End of the World” by Werner Herzog

2nd Prize:

Framed print of your photo (up to A2)
Book: “Ice Blink: An Antarctic Essay” by Simon Faithfull

3rd Prize:

Framed print of your photo (up to A2)
Book: “Bipolar” by The Arts Catalyst

Prints will be displayed in the conference venue during the IGS British Branch and UK Antarctic meetings, then posted to the winners (unframed if non-UK). A framed print of each will also given to Hareclive Academy.

Any photos on the themes of polar science and glaciology will be accepted: not only field work but also outreach, lab, engineering, kit, etc.

The deadline is the same as for registration (1st August). You may submit up to 3 photos using the following link:

Please name your files Surname_Firstname_Number.*, where Number is 1-3 (e.g. Edwards_Tamsin_2.jpeg). After uploading your files please email tamsin.edwards (at) bristol.ac.uk with:

1. Where the photo(s) were taken

2. Optional: Caption(s) about the image, place, and/or work (science or otherwise) being done on this trip.
