Journal of Glaciology

Issue 227 cover

The Journal of Glaciology is published six times a year and is now fully Gold Open Access. Online access to the latest issue and archive is available via the Cambridge University Press "Cambridge Core." Some of our material is still available at the IGS site - see link in sidebar opposite.

As of 1 January 2016, the IGS entered into a publishing partnership with Cambridge University Press (CUP). The Journal of Glaciology is now published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the uncertainty it is creating, some reviews are currently taking longer than usual. We want to reassure authors that the Journal remains open to submissions and we’re doing our best to minimise any delays.

The Journal of Glaciology is listed in the ISI Web of Science. The impact factor as published in June 2019 was 3.261.

For authors wishing to submit to the Journal of Glaciology please visit our 'information for authors' page.

To check the status of a submitted manuscript please log into the Journal page on Manuscript Central.

The Society is grateful to our founder's widow, Loris Seligman, for a generous bequest that made it possible to publish back issues of the Society's journals online for the benefit of glaciologists worldwide.

IGS policy on posting of manuscripts

The International Glaciological Society permits authors to post manuscripts to preprint servers such as arXiv, EarthArXiv and ESSOAr, to institutional repositories and on their personal and professional websites, under the following conditions:

Manuscript status (e.g. submitted, accepted, in press, published) must be clearly indicated, along with the name of the journal Accepted, in-press or published manuscripts should replace their submitted counterparts upon the change of status, and be accompanied by complete citation information; in the case of a published article, a link should be provided to the on-line version of record Manuscripts that have been rejected should be removed from preprint servers where possible

Cambridge University Press publishes IGS journals as Gold Open Access, with authors selecting one of three Creative Commons licenses (CC-BY, CC-BY-NC, CC-BY-NC-ND): https://www.cambridge.org/core/services/open-access-policies/open-access-resources/creative-commons-licenses. Authors posting accepted, in-press and published manuscripts must ensure they are in compliance with the relevant license.
