CliC Open Science Conference ‘The Changing Cryosphere: Science, Impacts, and Adaptation’
Conference Topics are being developed by the scientific steering committee, with input from all CliC Working Groups and partner organizations. Interested parties may suggest sessions via the Expression of Interest form.
The conference will include a half-day INSTANT workshop. More information on the workshop will follow in due course.
As indicated on the conference website the IGS is bronze sponsor of this meeting. In particular, the IGS is supporting Early Career Travel Grants.
To facilitate it, the IGS Early-career Glaciologists Group (IGS-EGG) has agreed to set a special deadline for the CliC meeting i.e. the application window for the CliC symposium will close on 30 September, and the applicants will be informed of the results well in advance of the early bird registration deadline 11th November. Furthermore, we are planning to bring a Seligman ceremony to the event. In 2023, the International Glaciological Society bestowed its most prestigious honour, the Seligman Crystal on the then director of the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Professor Yao Tandong. Since then, Professor Yao has retired as the director of the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research (ITP) and now holds the position of the Honorary Director of the same institute.
Professor Yao is one of the Plenary and Keynote Speakers at the CliC Open Science Conference 2026 and the IGS felt it was most appropriate to honour him at that meeting and present him with the Seligman Crystal, https://www.igsoc.org/about/awards/seligman-crystal, in Wellington, NZ next February
