As you will be aware of, the former Chair of the committee, Gwenn Flowers, was elected President of the IGS at our last AGM. After some soul searching and discussions the President approached Bryn Hubbard and asked if he would be talking on the job pending Council’s approval. Bryn accepted the challenge and Council subsequently approved his appointment.
Bryn has been a member of the IGS since 1988. He served as the IGS correspondent for the UK from 1995 to 2021. He has been a member of the IGS editorial board and a member of the Publications Committee for the last couple of years. He has been at Aberystwyth University since 1994, starting as Lecturer in Glaciology. Centre for Glaciology, Institute of Geography and Earth Sciences and then moving up through the ranks as Senior Lecturer and Reader up to Professor. He also holds the position as Director of the Centre for Glaciology and Director of Research of Department of Geography and Earth Sciences
